Andrew Bellamy and I recently crossed paths thanks to the power of Facebook and a number of mutual KB friends. Thanks to Andrew's suggestion I have been using a gizmo called the Rotater for the last couple of days to address my shoulder issues. I feel like Steve Austin...we can rebuild him! Between this and Jonathan Lewis input I am putting together a small but incredibly effective tool kit to deal with my various compensations and issues. Major article on Duty of Self Care Coming! It is one of those classic "why didn't someone think of this before" tools! More on the Rotater later!
Muscle & Fitness Magazine
The May issue of Muscle & Fitness magazine has chosen the Rotater as its ‘Gear of the Month’. This is what they have to say;
“When it comes to your rotator cuffs – those critical muscles that stabilise your shoulder joints – chances are you don’t train or stretch them enough. This could be the weak link in your heavy delt and pec work because if these muscles are untrained or get injured, many of your chest and shoulder lifts will the suffer. With the Rotater you can easily stretch and train these vital stabilisers and dramatically reduce your chance of injury. Do your shoulders – and mobility – a favour and check it out.”

Mat Pearch K16 UKWA slalom champion for 2009 Reviews the Rotater
"Hi Andy,Yeah, getting on well with it. definitely got more movement in my shoulders, my arm goes back at more of an angle now when I use it. I've been boxing twice a week with Scott (Welch) and my shoulders are absolut...ely dead after a session and the next day so been using it to loosen them up and make them feel normal again. Cheers, Mat" –
Mat Pearch Mike Dobbyn Breaks Longest Drive Record, Again November 17, 2009 Some people thought it was a record that would never fall. Count me as one of them. A 551 yard drive is incredible! How do you beat that? Advances in technology are enabling us to push the limits of human performance. Thanks to Super Dave Osborne’s new club, “The Basher”, Mike Dobbyn is able to increase his world record to 620 yards! Sounds unbelievable, right? Fortunately for us, it was all caught on video. Being someone who loves to play golf this became a concern especially since several friends and my wife all had shoulder surgery. I ended up seeing my doctor and found out I had bone spurs in my shoulder that were rubbing and irritating my rotator cuff. Of course after surgery there’s physical therapy. I was in physical therapy for about 2 months and everything went really well, but I wasn’t back to the same flexibility in my shoulder as before even though I continued to do the exercises. At the Jan. 2008 PGS Merchandise show in Orlando, I was at the Rotater booth and listened to what Chris Melton had to say about the Rotater. Sounded interesting but I didn’t do anything at first. Full shoulder turn with no pain After wallking around the show for awhile, I decided to buy one and give it a try. I’ve been using the Rotater nearly everyday now and my shoulder flexibility has improved and is greater than before the shoulder surgery. As a golfer this is important for generating distance and control.” Bill Raines – Kennedy Space Center, NASA How about sending in your clips of you using The Rotater 'out of context'. I’ve been in AZ for the past month and had an interesting experience. It was a long par 4, 485 yds. I hit driver – lob wedge. Usually I would have driver – 5 or 6 iron. So the Range of motion increase and the flexibility was noticeable to me. I’ve also had less soreness in the shoulder where my old football shoulder separation was. It seems that the Rotater is helping breakdown the scar tissue that gave the shoulder some of its stiffness and pain.” Bob Orr, Long Drive Consultant
“Your Rotater has been the best rehabilitation for my shoulder. the old football injuries that gave me a stiffness has been relieved and my shoulder rotation for long driving the golf ball has been great. Not many 61 year old guys can get it out over 320 yds which I did last week at a charity event fundraiser for Lukemia.” Scott Welch, former professional heavyweight boxer and all-round fitness advocate has suffered from general shoulder and rotator cuff problems and has recently been using the Rotater to increase his range of motion, a unique device developed in the US for just this type of problem. After just a couple of weeks of use, Scott tells me that “the Rotater has really helped to loosen up my shoulders, increasing range and flexibility. I will definately be encouraging the lads to use it before and after sparring and glove work. I can also see it being useful before competition as part of their pre-fight prep…….good one!”. Former boxer, amateur and professional, picking up British & Commonwealth Champ and WBO Heavyweight Champ of Great Britain titles and was a contender for the Heavyweight Champion of the World (sadly lost on points). He now coaches boxing at the Hove Amateur Boxing Club, keeps fit with road and off-road cycling and undertakes events like the Marathon Des Sables for charity. Just for good measure, Scott starred as Horace ‘Good Night’ Anderson in Snatch alongside Brad Pitt! AB using the Rotater for external rotation stretch at 12 metres, Marsa Mubarakh, Egypt. "Following a third operation on my shoulders to repair a rotater cuff and re attach biceps ligament I had got myself ready for weeks of rehabilitation exercises.Then I discovered the Rotater, after 3 weeks of use I have fantastic movement in the shoulder and the strength is well on its way. Compared to the previous operations, my recovery time has been much faster and my shoulder feels far more stable. I can highly recommend the Rotater". TM.
